BACK TO SCHOOL, BACK TO NORMAL?

Fall is the time of mixed emotions as change of seasons often are. After spending the summer as the chief activity planners and event organizers for our kids, we now  get to turn over some of their daytime management back to school. For some of us that is a relief and for some of us that comes with mixed emotions.

At Bloom, we want to support you and your kids to keep you healthy, emotionally and physically.  For kids, after a long summer of outside activities, the change to indoor activities and being exposed to many other kids as well as eating differently often can trigger allergies and  missed school days.  In addition, studies show that kids’ asthma and allergies usually peak in September.

So the question is how you decide if your kids’ immune system is under attack, and what you do about it if it is? To be even more proactive , the question becomes what can you do to boost your child’s immunity as naturally as possible, knowing that this is the season?

So the answers are:

1)  Love is always the best answer to any natural health solution, and at Bloom we share that freely.

2) Bloom also has professional quality natural products to help treat  both the root cause of  allergies and asthma as well as the symptoms.

3) Bloom also has  several allergy and asthma testing kits and protocols to choose from  to help uncover the root cause and potential source.

So when you feel your kid's immunity is under attack, find and treat the root cause, and manage the symptoms. Bloom is here for you with state of-the-art testing, natural treatments, and products.

Additional suggestion from Dr. Ward

1)  Know you child’s sensitivity level to gluten, grains and dairy.

2)  Know which foods cause reactions and sensitivities for your child.

3)  Know that allergies and asthma can be triggered by food reactions.

4)  Know that food reactions can be both physical and emotional.

TEST OF THE MONTH

In the Discovery Lounge
Test your cortisol levels throughout the day to measure adrenal output in response to stress.  Abnormalities in cortisol levels can lead to symptoms of fatigue, insomnia, and weight gain.  Additionally, the test will look at salivary DHEA levels, which is your body’s natural protective mechanism for high cortisol output levels.

IV OF THE MONTH

Adrenal Support
High-dose Vitamin C IV: Vitamin C is the single most important micronutrient for adrenal support. This nutrient is produced and secreted from most mammals’ adrenal glands. However, we humans are one of 4 mammalian species that cannot produce our own Vitamin C, and must get our Vitamin C from diet or supplementation.

PRODUCT OF THE MONTH

Probiotics
These are phenomenal supplements to keep you protected from infections during this back to school season.  Our gastrointestinal tract is one of our first lines of defense against infection. Approximately 90 percent of our immune system resides in our intestines. Therefore, it is crucial to maintain healthy populations of bacteria. By supplementing with probiotics and foods rich with beneficial bacteria, we can stimulate our defense mechanisms and reduce the risk for certain diseases such as ear infections and gastrointestinal infections. Additionally, probiotics have been shown to be effective in the treatment of autoimmune diseases and allergies such as atopic dermatitis.

Quality and quantity are very important when choosing a probiotic. Our favorites at Bloom are Ortho Biotic Powder (which can conveniently be added to a smoothie), Strengtia capsules, and PRObiotic 225. Each probiotic serves a different purpose, so stop by and talk with one of our staff members to find out which one would work best for you.

OIL OF THE MONTH

Lemon
Filling a room with the citrusy scent of Lemon is a great way to give off the feeling of “fresh and clean.”  However, actually using the essential oil of Lemon will assure your space really is fresh and clean, naturally! Lemon possesses disinfectant properties- but it doesn’t stop there. Its invigorating aroma promotes healing, physical energy, and purification. Lemon oil has also been known to help anemia, colds, fever, throat infections, anxiety, gallstones, and respiratory problems.  Lemon is a must-have essential oil to promote a barrier for your family during this back-to-school time of year!
